چکیده

Recently, several studies addressed security and privacy issues in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). Most of them focused on safety applications. As VANETs will be available widely, it is anticipated that Internet services could be accessed through VANETs in the near future. Thus, non-safety applications for VANETs would rise in popularity. This paper proposes a novel portable privacy-preserving authentication and access control protocol, named PAACP, for non-safety applications in VANETs. In addition to the essential support of authentication, key establishment, and privacy preservation, PAACP is developed to provide sophisticated differentiated service access control, which will facilitate the deployment of a variety of non-safety applications. Besides, the portability feature of PAACP can eliminate the backend communications with service providers. Therefore, better performance and scalability can be achieved in PAACP. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Cryptanalysis of A PAACP: A Portable Privacy- Preserving Authentication and Access Control Protocol in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are emerging to improve road safety and traffic management. Privacy and security are very important in VANETs. Existing authentication protocols to secure VANETs raise challenges such as certificate distribution and reduction of the strong reliance on tamper-proof devices. Recently, Yeh et al. proposed a portable privacy-preserving authentication and access co...

Improving the Authentication Scheme and Access Control Protocol for VANETs

Privacy and security are very important in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). VANETs are negatively affected by any malicious user’s behaviors, such as bogus information and replay attacks on the disseminated messages. Among various security threats, privacy preservation is one of the new challenges of protecting users’ private information. Existing authentication protocols to secure VANETs ra...

An Light-weight Privacy-preserving Authentication Protocol for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

Due to the characters of vehicular ad hoc networks, to protect the privacy of the vehicles, the message must be anonymously transmitted in VANETs. However, the existing technologies to realize anonymity, pseudonyms certificate and group-oriented signature, have complex key management and large computational cost. They don’t satisfy actual demand. To solve the above problem, we propose a novel p...

APPA: Aggregate Privacy-Preserving Authentication in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

Most securityand privacy-preserving protocols in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) heavily rely on time-consuming cryptographic operations which produce a huge volume of cryptographic data. These data are usually employed for many kinds of decisions, which poses the challenge of processing the received cryptographic data fast enough to avoid unaffordable reaction delay. To meet that challenge,...
